Accommodation inside an elephant: Kumbuk River Resort
Kumbuk River is a 6.5-hectare oasis located in the stunning southeastern corner of Sri Lanka. Made famous by its enormous two-story villa in the shape of an elephant, this eco-lodge is situated on the banks of a rushing river at the edge of Yala, Sri Lanka's premier wildlife reserve.
For those not fortunate enough to stay in the "belly of the elephant," the resort also offers two other lodges for larger groups. Small groups can book the entire elephant-shaped lodge exclusively. Only a maximum of 12 guests can stay at the hotel at any one time to maintain high ecological standards. The beautiful surroundings, river, and unique resort facilities offer privacy that allows for communion with nature.
