Accor to Open Sofitel Genoa Waterfront, Bringing French Elegance to Liguria
Accor has announced the signing of the Sofitel Genoa Waterfront, a landmark luxury property set to open in 2027. Developed in partnership with AG Group, the hotel will form part of the Waterfront di Levante project, designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Positioned on Genoa’s historic port, the hotel will blend French sophistication with Ligurian maritime heritage, marking the city’s first true international luxury property.
The Sofitel Genoa Waterfront will feature 120 rooms, including 20 suites, offering guests refined interiors and panoramic views. Amenities will include an all-day dining restaurant, lobby lounge bar, pool bar, spa, gym, swimming pool, and two meeting rooms, catering to both leisure and business travelers. Its location will benefit from new high-speed rail links that will connect Genoa to Milan in just 53 minutes by 2026, with easy access to nearby destinations such as Portofino and the Cinque Terre.
The project highlights Accor’s expansion in Italy, where it already operates the Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese and has upcoming developments in Milan, Venice, and Palermo. The involvement of Orion, CDS Holding SpA, and consultancy firm Fortvny underscores the collaborative nature of the development. For AG Group, Italy’s first integrated tourism operator, this partnership further expands its portfolio of high-end projects across the country.
By combining French art de vivre with world-class design from Renzo Piano, the Sofitel Genoa Waterfront aims to redefine Genoa’s hospitality offering. The property is expected to serve as a new symbol of luxury in Liguria, aligning international branding with local cultural heritage to attract global travelers.
