Andaz heads to the mountains with Heber Valley debut in Utah
Hyatt has announced plans for Andaz Heber Valley, which will become the brand’s first-ever mountain destination and its debut in Utah’s Heber Valley. Scheduled to open in January 2029, the project will be developed by Angstrom Development Group within The Slope, a larger lifestyle mixed-use masterplan. The hotel is planned as an 85-room property paired with a substantial branded residences component. The concept is positioned around design, wellbeing, and a strong connection to the region’s landscape and year-round outdoor appeal.
Andaz Heber Valley is being framed as a four-season mountain retreat that avoids conventional alpine clichés in favor of globally informed design references. According to the announcement, the property draws inspiration from mountain and wellness destinations worldwide, from Japan to the Dolomites, while grounding its architecture and interiors in local craftsmanship and materiality. The hotel will be located steps from the Provo River, about five minutes from Deer Valley’s East Village, and roughly 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, aiming to pair access and convenience with a setting defined by rugged peaks and open meadows.
A key pillar of the development is the residences program, planned as 62 condominiums and 140 villas that will have their own amenities along with special privileges at the hotel. The residences are expected to be introduced separately for purchase at a future date. The wider The Slope development is planned to include hospitality, residences, dining, retail, and outdoor programming, while Andaz Heber Valley is positioned to operate as a distinct hotel experience with its own identity within the masterplan.
The resort proposition is built for active travel across seasons, with planned access to skiing, backcountry exploration, hiking, and cycling. Food and beverage is also being positioned as a signature differentiator, with the hotel’s restaurant expected to follow a mountain-to-table culinary philosophy focused on local ingredients, sustainable sourcing, and hyperseasonal menus reflecting the rhythms of Heber Valley.
Delivery is planned in phases, with the announcement stating that residences will launch in spring 2026 and staged residential completions will run through 2029, aligning with the hotel’s anticipated opening in January 2029. Overall, the project strengthens Hyatt’s pipeline in destination-led luxury, extending the Andaz brand into a new category of mountain hospitality designed to balance contemporary design with nature-first positioning.
