Ascend Collection passes 500 hotel openings
Choice Hotels International has announced that Ascend Collection has surpassed 500 hotel openings, marking a major milestone for the company’s growth in the upscale segment. The achievement highlights the continued momentum of the soft brand model, which allows independent properties to keep their local identity while benefiting from larger brand infrastructure. The milestone was reached with new openings including The Harrison Hotel in Downtown Hollywood, Florida, and The Gould Hotel in Seneca Falls, New York. The announcement also underlines the brand’s wider expansion across the United States and international markets.
The latest additions show how Ascend Collection is continuing to strengthen its position in the upscale hotel category through locally inspired properties with distinct character. The Harrison Hotel, a 95-room property, offers a renovated boutique hotel experience in the heart of downtown Hollywood, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Located in the city’s historic arts, dining, and entertainment district, the hotel provides access to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, and Port Miami. Amenities include premium bedding, complimentary WiFi, hot breakfast, an outdoor pool, fitness center, on-site dining, a poolside bar, free airport transportation, and 2,500 square feet of flexible meeting space. In Seneca Falls, The Gould Hotel brings together more than a century of history and modern comfort in the Finger Lakes region. Originally opened in 1920, the restored 48-room property stands beside the Women’s Rights National Historical Park and close to local shops, museums, and canal walks, with features including hardwood floors, historic details, complimentary breakfast, and a fitness center. The release also points to a pipeline of 70 properties as of March 2, with anticipated openings in Flagstaff, Anaheim, and Miami, while further international progress includes the brand’s first property in Poland, six new properties in Québec, its first property in Chile, an upcoming debut in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, and a master franchise agreement with SSAW Hotels & Resorts in China that will add more than 9,500 rooms. The company also identified Indy Adenaw and Mark Shalala as key executives tied to the ongoing growth of Ascend Collection and the broader performance of Choice Hotels’ upscale brands.
