Kerzner International and Assets Group have announced plans for Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, a vast dual island resort set to debut in 2029 in the South Malé Atoll. Anchored on Vaaredhdhoo Faru island and surrounded by crystalline waters and white sand beaches, the new property will span roughly 1.37 million square metres and more than 5.8 kilometres of beachfront. Positioned as an immersive luxury and entertainment destination, the resort will be accessible by a 10 minute seaplane flight or a 25 minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport. With its scale and programming, Atlantis The Royal, Maldives is designed to redefine the Maldives as a high energy leisure hub while preserving the archipelago’s natural appeal.

The masterplan for Atlantis The Royal, Maldives is structured around two distinct islands – Family Island and Luxury Island – that together will offer 493 keys, including 270 hotel rooms and 223 villas and mansions. This layout allows the development to serve multiple guest profiles, pairing a vibrant, activity rich environment for families with a more exclusive retreat for high end travellers. Across both islands, guests will have access to 20 dining venues, two beach clubs and a 70,000 square metre Aquaventure waterpark featuring up to 15 rides anchored by the signature Neptune and Poseidon Towers. The resort will also house sports academies, entertainment zones and comprehensive wellness facilities, creating a destination where stays, gastronomy, recreation and relaxation are all integrated.

A major focal point of the project is the Aquaventure experience, which will bring Atlantis’ hallmark waterpark concept to the Maldives. In addition to its headline slides and attractions, the park will showcase sustainably sourced native marine life and a Lost Chambers Aquarium, all developed under the Atlantis Atlas Project sustainability framework. This approach aims to blend high impact entertainment with educational storytelling about the Maldives’ marine ecosystems, encouraging guests to engage with conservation themes while enjoying the destination’s aquatic offerings. Beyond Aquaventure, the resort’s leisure mix will include retail promenades with curated luxury boutiques and flexible event spaces for both large and small gatherings, positioning the property as a venue for celebrations, incentives and destination weddings.

Sustainability is being embedded from the earliest stages of planning. Atlantis The Royal, Maldives is committed to protecting the island ecosystem through responsible design, energy efficient systems, coral and seaweed regeneration initiatives and advanced water conservation technologies. These measures are intended not only to minimise the environmental footprint of such a substantial resort but also to contribute positively to the resilience of the surrounding marine environment. By aligning environmental stewardship with its ultra-luxury positioning, the project reflects Kerzner International’s broader commitment to next generation, experience led resorts that balance spectacle with responsibility. Culinary experiences will be central to the brand proposition. The resort is expected to feature more than 17 world class dining concepts, including signature Atlantis venues such as Gastronomy, The Royal Tearoom and Ossiano, alongside celebrity chef restaurants, beach clubs and social dining spaces. This breadth of choice is designed to appeal to global gourmands while giving long stay guests constant variety. Complementing the F&B offer, a dedicated wellness sanctuary will include a botanical alchemy zone, a world class spa with longevity focused treatments, an overwater yoga and breathwork platform, a beauty salon, a recovery studio and an indoor outdoor fitness centre. Together, these elements position Atlantis The Royal, Maldives as a first of its kind dual island destination where family friendly fun, elevated gastronomy and holistic wellbeing coexist within a single, highly curated resort environment.
