Banyan Group opens Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree and launches rainforest festival in Singapore
The Banyan Group has officially opened Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree inside Mandai Wildlife Reserve, marking the brand’s 100th property and a symbolic homecoming to Singapore. The grand opening on 26 November was officiated by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and previewed the inaugural Rainforest Festival, which opens to the public today. The resort is the first located within a world-leading wildlife and nature destination in a capital city, underscoring Singapore’s City in Nature vision. Proceeds from festival tickets support President’s Challenge 2025, matched dollar-for-dollar by Banyan Group and by the Government under SG60 Matching Grants.
Set amid 4.6 hectares of greenery, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree showcases elevated, sustainability-led design with biodiversity corridors, treehouse accommodations inspired by native seed pods, and energy-efficient features that earned Singapore’s first Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy certification for a resort. The opening program guided guests through the property’s nature-led experiences and the Rainforest Festival footprint, including the Discovery Trail, a Banyan Gallery craft showcase, the GREEN-HOUSE HangOut weekend market, and the newly opened Curiosity Cove indoor nature playscape a short walk from the resort. The day also premiered a short film tracing Banyan Group’s journey to its 100th hotel, and convened a City in Nature dialogue on regenerative design and nature-positive development with leaders from conservation, design and architecture. An appreciation dinner closed the celebration with performances by local artists and young musicians.
Running 27 November to 3 December from 10am to 6pm, the Rainforest Festival blends wellbeing sessions, nature walks, creative workshops and family activities with live performances. Weekend highlights include the GREEN-HOUSE HangOut with ten homegrown sustainable brands and sets by Wolfgang Violin Studio, Joie Tan, Jack & Rai, MICappella and Beans & Beats. Festival tickets are priced at S$10 on weekdays and S$15 on weekends, with free entry for children under four, in-house resort guests and participants of paid Mandai experiences during festival week. Tickets unlock admission perks across Rainforest Wild Asia, Bird Paradise and Curiosity Cove, plus dining and retail benefits at the resort’s venues including Forage, Planter’s Shed, Banyan Tree Spa and Banyan Tree Gallery. All festival ticket proceeds are donated and matched by Banyan Group, with an additional 20 percent of proceeds from paid resort and Mandai experiences and SG60-exclusive merchandise also donated.
The opening underscores a broader stewardship agenda by Banyan Group and Mandai Wildlife Group, pairing resort stays with access to Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Rainforest Wild Asia, Bird Paradise and Curiosity Cove. A new Silver Staycation weekday retreat for guests aged 60 and above is available for stays through 30 April 2026, including daily breakfast for two, advance purchase savings, a complimentary Family Room upgrade subject to availability, weekday stays Sunday to Thursday, and a S$100 nett resort credit redeemable across dining, spa, in-resort experiences and park admissions arranged by the concierge. Together, the resort and festival position Mandai as a year-round hub for sustainable tourism, biodiversity education and wellbeing, while channeling direct community impact through President’s Challenge.
