BWH Hotels GB builds independent hotel momentum
BWH Hotels GB has expanded its independent hotel portfolio with six new signings over the past 12 months, adding 291 bedrooms across key leisure and corporate destinations. The latest additions include Forest Lodge Hotel, BW Signature Collection by Best Western, Best Western Chiswick Rooms and Sure Hotel Newark, which together contribute a further 100 bedrooms. The group’s recent signings underline growing demand from independent hoteliers for flexible brand affiliation models. With more properties nearing contract completion, BWH Hotels GB is aiming to accelerate growth through the remainder of the year.
The latest portfolio additions strengthen BWH Hotels GB’s presence in both city and countryside locations. The group is building scale across destinations where independent hotels can benefit from global distribution, loyalty access and commercial support while preserving their individual character. This balance is becoming increasingly important for owners seeking brand strength without the constraints of a traditional franchise structure.
Forest Lodge Hotel, BW Signature Collection by Best Western adds 36 bedrooms in Lyndhurst, in the heart of the New Forest. The property is positioned in one of southern England’s most recognised countryside destinations, often described as the gateway to New Forest National Park. Its addition gives BWH Hotels GB a stronger foothold in the country escape segment, where guests value local character, nature access and independent hospitality.
Best Western Chiswick Rooms brings 33 bedrooms to the Best Western brand in a prime West London location. The hotel is close to major transport links, offering access to central London in around 25 minutes and Heathrow Airport in around 20 minutes. The property also recently completed a refurbishment of all bedrooms, with approximately £500,000 invested in 2025 to improve the guest offer.
Sure Hotel Newark adds 30 bedrooms in Newark-on-Trent, within easy reach of the town’s historic market square and Newark Castle. The hotel gives the group another address in a destination with heritage appeal and regional business demand. Its location supports both leisure travellers exploring the town and business guests moving through the wider area.
Recent additions to the BWH Hotels GB portfolio are already producing commercial results. Royal Maritime Hotel generated close to £50,000 in new business during its first month after joining the group, exceeding budget expectations from the start. This performance supports the group’s message that independent hotels can gain immediate commercial benefit from joining a wider hospitality platform.
The expansion comes at a time when independent hoteliers are facing rising operating costs, distribution challenges and strong competition. Many owners are looking for a partner that can provide revenue support, marketing reach and access to a loyalty base while allowing them to remain in control of their hotel’s personality and guest experience. This is where BWH Hotels GB is positioning its portfolio of brands as a flexible alternative.
The group’s platform includes WorldHotels and Best Western, giving owners access to a broad brand architecture across different market segments. Hotels joining BWH Hotels GB benefit from a global loyalty programme with more than 60 million Rewards members, alongside marketing support, distribution channels and commercial expertise. These tools are designed to help independent properties compete more effectively without becoming standardised chain hotels.
Tim Rumney, Chief Executive Officer of BWH Hotels GB, is associated with the group’s focus on helping independent owners unlock new revenue opportunities while retaining operational freedom. The latest signings reflect growing interest in models that combine commercial scale with individuality, especially as owners reassess how to compete in a more complex market.
BWH Hotels GB represents Great Britain’s largest group of independent hotels, with more than 230 properties across the country. Its portfolio includes historic castles, coaching inns, country retreats and modern city hotels, all independently owned and operated. With 291 bedrooms added through new signings in the past year and a further pipeline of opportunities expected to activate in the coming months, the group is strengthening its position as a major platform for independent hospitality in Great Britain.
