Choice Hotels International has announced a broad enterprise-wide AI rollout developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services, positioning the initiative as a major step in the company’s technology strategy. Rather than limiting artificial intelligence to isolated pilots, the hotel group is embedding it across the full business, from the guest journey to hotel operations and distribution management. The move is being presented as a production-scale deployment designed to make the organisation more intelligent, responsive and efficient. It also signals a wider shift in hospitality innovation, as AI becomes part of the operating model rather than a future-facing experiment.

For Choice Hotels, the importance of the announcement lies in the breadth of the rollout. The company said AI is now being integrated across the full hospitality value chain, shaping how guests discover hotels, how they book, how franchisees run their properties, and how the business manages its wider channel ecosystem. Built on AWS cloud infrastructure, the programme is intended to move the company beyond point solutions and toward a more unified, scalable technology foundation. A key part of that foundation is AgentCore, which Choice Hotels says it is the first major hospitality provider in the United States to standardize on, giving the company a secure platform for intelligent agents that can retrieve trusted information and automate workflows. Brian Kirkland described the move as the next chapter in the company’s history of innovation and as a way to turn intelligence into a lasting competitive advantage for both guests and franchisees.

The guest-facing impact of the initiative is expected to centre on greater personalisation and smoother interactions. According to the announcement, Choice Hotels is using AI to enhance the end-to-end guest experience, from intelligent search and booking recommendations to more relevant interactions across digital and physical touchpoints. The wider ambition is to make each stage of the stay journey more timely, seamless and responsive to individual needs. On the operations side, the company is also deploying AI-powered tools for franchise owners and operators, helping them make smarter decisions in areas such as revenue management, maintenance and guest communications. In a system with thousands of franchised hotels, that kind of operational support is designed to reduce friction and improve portfolio-wide performance.

The company is also applying AI to one of the most commercially important parts of its business - distribution. Choice Hotels said the technology is helping modernize its dynamic channel ecosystem through smarter pricing, better inventory optimization and improved partner integrations, all with the aim of driving incremental revenue for franchisees. For AWS, the project stands as an example of what large-scale AI adoption can look like in hospitality. Rich Geraffo said the collaboration has created a foundation that goes beyond simple task automation and instead supports smarter guest experiences, stronger franchisee outcomes and a sharper competitive edge. Within that framework, the announcement presents AI in hospitality not as an experimental add-on, but as a core business capability that is increasingly defining the most competitive hotel brands.
