Choice unveils next-gen Everhome Suites prototype to sharpen extended-stay economics

Choice Hotels International, Inc. has introduced a redesigned Everhome Suites prototype, positioning it as a next-generation model for smarter extended stay development. The company says the design responds to rising construction costs and evolving guest expectations while improving owner economics. The update targets the midscale extended stay segment, where Choice continues to expand its footprint. The new prototype is expected to see its first groundbreakings in the coming months.

Developed with input from developers, operators, general contractors, architects, and suppliers, the redesigned Everhome Suites prototype builds on what Choice describes as an investment-led approach to brand growth. The company’s objective is to make the brand easier to develop and operate at scale without diluting the product standards that long-stay guests expect. The prototype is centered on delivering a modern, apartment-style experience while tightening build and operational efficiencies that matter most to owners and lenders in a higher-cost environment.

Three priorities define the update. First, Choice says the new design lowers the cost to build, citing refined layouts and material efficiencies that reduce average development costs per room by approximately 13% versus the previous prototype. Second, the model emphasizes operational efficiency through design enhancements intended to support streamlined operations and lean staffing without compromising service consistency. Third, the brand is focused on an elevated guest experience that helps travelers maintain routines during longer stays, supported by apartment-style suites with full kitchens, flexible workspaces, and contemporary design details geared toward productivity and comfort.

The redesigned prototype also increases project capacity to approximately 120 suites, a change aimed at strengthening overall returns while keeping Everhome Suites firmly positioned in the midscale space. Matt McElhare and Ron Burgett connected the update to sustained owner interest in the extended stay category and framed the redesign as a practical response to market cycles, with disciplined innovation intended to reduce development friction and improve long-term performance.

Choice is rolling out the redesigned model as part of its broader extended stay platform, with Everhome Suites reporting 27 hotels open and approximately 40 properties in its development pipeline. The prototype was developed with long-standing partner BRR Architecture, serving as architect of record for Choice’s extended-stay brands, supporting a design that is positioned as both buildable and scalable across markets.
