Corinthia Rome opens on Piazza del Parlamento in a restored former Bank of Italy palazzo
Corinthia Hotels has opened Corinthia Rome in the historic Piazza del Parlamento, marking the brand’s debut in Italy. The new luxury hotel occupies a grand neoclassical palazzo long associated with the Bank of Italy, restored to preserve its monumental structure and original 1920s frescoes. The 9,700-square-metre property brings a 60-key offering to the heart of Campo Marzio, close to the Pantheon, Roman Forum, and Spanish Steps. The opening also introduces the first Roman address for chef Carlo Cracco.
Set in a building designed by Pio and Marcello Piacentini and constructed between 1913 and 1921, Corinthia Rome positions heritage as a core part of the guest experience rather than a decorative layer. The restoration, led by hospitality design studio GA, returned the structure to its original proportions and removed later interventions, revealing mosaics, stuccoes, cornices, painted ceilings, and marble detailing. One of the most historically charged spaces is the former Council Chamber overlooking Palazzo Montecitorio, now the Theodoli Heritage Suite, which retains frescoes by Giulio Bargellini and a ceiling by Guglielmo Janni.
The hotel’s accommodation spans 60 rooms, including 21 suites, designed to feel like private residences within the palazzo’s historic fabric. High ceilings and large windows bring in natural light and frame views of Rome or the inner courtyard, while restored details are paired with contemporary furnishings. Standout categories include the duplex Campo Marzio Suites, the terrace-led Chigi Suite, the Arte Suite, the Theodoli Heritage Suite, and the Aurea Penthouse, positioned as a privacy-focused rooftop retreat above the city.
Food and social life are being shaped around Carlo Cracco’s Roman debut, with three venues defining the hotel’s day-to-night rhythm. Viride overlooks the interior garden and focuses on contemporary Italian cuisine rooted in seasonality and exceptional produce. Piazzetta channels Rome’s tradition of lively, open hospitality, while Ocra Bar is designed for aperitifs and late evenings in a more intimate, nocturnal setting. Together, the venues aim to establish the property as a local meeting point as well as a destination stay.
Wellness is anchored by the subterranean Corinthia Spa, created inside the building’s original vault and inspired by ancient bathing rituals. The space is presented as a calm counterpoint to the city above, shaped by water, mineral stone, and softened light. Treatments were developed in collaboration with Seed to Skin and 111Skin London, blending botanical approaches with clinically oriented techniques, and aligning the hotel with the growing demand for wellness travel in high-end urban destinations.
The property is owned by Reuben Brothers, and Corinthia Rome becomes the group’s second hotel operated by Corinthia Hotels. Rooms are priced from €1300, with suites from €2100, reflecting the hotel’s positioning at the top end of the city’s luxury hospitality market.
