Dusit International Expands in Saudi Arabia with Upcoming Opening of dusitD2 Al Ahs
Dusit International has unveiled plans to expand its presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the signing of a hotel management agreement for dusitD2 Al Ahsa, an upper-upscale resort located in the heart of Al Ahsa Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in eastern Saudi Arabia. This milestone agreement, inked with Al Ghadeer Group, signals the Thai hospitality group's growing commitment to delivering culturally immersive luxury experiences in the region.
The signing ceremony was held under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr Al Saud, Governor of Al Ahsa, and was attended by notable figures including Mr. Naif Al Madi, Chief Business Officer of the Tourism Development Fund; Sheikh Bassem Al Ghadeer, Chairman of Al Ghadeer Group of Companies; and Mr. Gilles Cretallaz, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit International. The new resort, set to open in 2027, is positioned just 30 minutes from Al Ahsa International Airport and 90 minutes from Dammam, making it highly accessible to both domestic and international travelers.
dusitD2 Al Ahsa will feature 120 spacious suites in configurations ranging from one to three bedrooms, each equipped with a private terrace and plunge pool. The design, led by Cairo-based El Ghoneimi Architects, draws on local heritage and natural surroundings. With architectural forms inspired by the desert and mountains, and interiors reflecting the cultural symbolism of Al Ahsa's palm trees, the resort is conceived as a serene and authentic retreat.
The property will include a wellness centre, 1,500 sq m ballroom, flexible meeting rooms, outdoor event lawn, all-day dining restaurant, lobby café, outdoor pool with kids' area, and a kids club. These offerings are designed to cater to leisure and business travelers alike, including those seeking wellness retreats, weddings, or immersive cultural exploration.
Strategically located near Al Ahsa’s key attractions such as Al Qarah Mountain, Juatha Park, and Qaisariah Souq, the resort is expected to become a prime destination for those seeking meaningful and eco-cultural experiences in one of the world's largest natural oases.
This development marks Dusit International's second confirmed property in Saudi Arabia, following the anticipated launch of Dusit Princess Al Majma'ah, Riyadh later this year, and reinforces its long-term strategy of Middle East expansion.
