EkoStay grows private villa portfolio in India
EkoStay has added five new villas across Maharashtra and Karnataka, strengthening its position in India’s private villa and experience-led hospitality segment. The new properties are located in Nashik, Wada, Igatpuri and Lonavala in Maharashtra, as well as Chikmagalur in Karnataka. The expansion reflects growing demand for private, curated and destination-focused stays among Indian travellers. It also marks a wider move by EkoStay to build villa clusters in leisure markets with long-term potential.
The latest additions broaden EkoStay’s presence in some of western and southern India’s most active short-break and leisure destinations. Maharashtra continues to offer strong access from major urban centres, while Karnataka gives the company a route into a different kind of leisure market shaped by nature, plantations and weekend travel. Together, the five villas support a portfolio strategy built around privacy, destination character and flexible group stays.
Each property has been designed around a different type of guest experience. Wada Crest in Wada is a three-bedroom retreat with a private pool and open outdoor areas, making it suitable for families, small groups and travellers looking for a secluded escape. Casa Elara in Igatpuri offers five bedrooms and mountain views, positioning it for guests seeking a larger villa experience in a scenic setting.
In Lonavala, Casa Bella spans around 10,000 square feet and includes entertainment areas and a garden. This gives the property a stronger social and leisure profile, suited to group holidays, celebrations and weekend escapes. The Nashik addition further strengthens EkoStay’s presence in a destination associated with leisure, vineyards and regional travel demand.
The most strategically significant addition is Forest Cube Villa in Chikmagalur. Set within coffee estate surroundings, the property marks EkoStay’s entry into the South India leisure market. This move extends the company beyond its established western India base and gives it a foothold in a destination known for nature-led stays, plantation landscapes and experiential travel.
The expansion is closely linked to changing travel preferences in India. Travellers are increasingly looking for stays that feel private, immersive and emotionally connected to the destination rather than standard accommodation-led experiences. This shift is creating stronger demand for villas, independent properties, wellness-led escapes and personalised leisure stays.
Varun Arora, CEO and co-founder of EkoStay, is connected with the company’s view that markets such as Maharashtra and Karnataka remain attractive because of their accessibility, natural appeal and year-round travel demand. This makes them suitable for villa development aimed at families, groups and travellers seeking more intimate alternatives to traditional hotels.
Husain Khatumdi, Managing Director and co-founder of EkoStay, is associated with the company’s focus on destinations that offer long-term leisure potential. The expansion is not only about adding more inventory, but also about building consistency, reliability and curated hospitality across private villa stays. This is important in a segment where guests increasingly expect hotel-like professionalism within independent homes and villas.
Zishan Khan, co-founder of EkoStay, is linked with the company’s broader strategy of identifying properties with strong experiential value and long-term hospitality relevance. The company’s model also supports homeowners by helping them professionally monetise their properties through managed villa hospitality. This creates a dual opportunity: memorable guest experiences on one side and structured asset utilisation for owners on the other.
With the addition of five villas across Maharashtra and Karnataka, EkoStay is reinforcing its role in India’s evolving private stay market. The new properties combine destination access, privacy, design variety and leisure appeal across mountains, gardens, outdoor spaces and coffee estate surroundings. As demand for experience-led travel continues to grow, the company is positioning itself around curated villa hospitality rather than simple accommodation supply.
