Esperanza Lake Resort Reopens with Renewed Identity as Member of Design Hotels
Following a transformative three-year renovation, Esperanza Lake Resort has reopened its doors with a refreshed identity and a prestigious new affiliation with Design Hotels. Located just 40 minutes from Vilnius, the resort offers guests a seamless blend of natural luxury, wellness, and design in the heart of Aukštaitija National Park, one of Lithuania’s most pristine natural sanctuaries. This reopening marks a new era for the property, with expanded amenities and a carefully curated interior rooted in the surrounding forest and lake landscape.
The high-end resort spans 15 hectares of private land, including lakeshore access to Lake Ungurys, and now features a 1,000-square-meter wellness center, a private beach, and two reimagined restaurants. Designed by Kirson Design of Riga, the renovation honors the resort’s original structure—built from preserved cedar logs—by incorporating natural materials like oak, stone, and linen throughout. The new design language, guided by a philosophy of quiet luxury and earthiness, blends handcrafted furniture with locally made ceramics and custom woodwork, creating interiors that feel deeply connected to nature.
The resort’s 28 guest rooms, including 13 suites, are adorned with wide-plank oak floors, clay-toned plaster, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sculptural furnishings. Bathrooms feature carved oak vanities and stone finishes, complemented by Le Labo toiletries. A neutral palette of soft greys, charcoal, and pine greens mirrors the surrounding environment, promoting a sense of calm and balance.
Dining experiences have been completely redefined. Olea, the resort’s new fine dining concept, introduces contemporary Greek cuisine—a rarity in Lithuania—offering à la carte breakfasts and refined Mediterranean dinners. Nearby, Mizu Beach by Heji, the resort’s Japanese fusion lakeside restaurant, has transitioned to year-round service. Under the leadership of executive chef Aleksandras Fedorovicius, both restaurants focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and elegant presentations, drawing from his broader culinary work at Heji Vilnius.
Wellness is a central focus of the new Esperanza. The upgraded wellness center offers advanced therapies such as Cloud-9 sleep therapy, Charcot hydrotherapy, and Winform CRV Tecar body sculpting. Guests can also enjoy Pilates, saunas, treatment rooms, and nature-based activities like paddleboarding, recreational fishing, forest cycling, and interaction with animals in the resort’s private refuge. For children, a natural playground ensures a welcoming environment for families.
Esperanza Lake Resort’s reopening exemplifies a shift toward immersive, authentic, and sustainably luxurious travel experiences. As part of the Design Hotels community, the property now stands as a model of how architecture, local craftsmanship, and modern wellness can converge to offer a truly transformative retreat in one of Europe’s most serene environments.
