Fairmont Xiamen Opens in Southeastern China
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of Accor, has officially opened the doors to Fairmont Xiamen, a landmark luxury hotel located in Fujian Province. Developed in partnership with Xiamen Airlines, the new property is housed within a striking 33-story tower that forms part of the Xiamen Cross-Strait Financial Center, offering guests a harmonious fusion of contemporary elegance, local heritage, and sustainable design.
Marking a significant expansion for Fairmont in Greater China, the newly opened Fairmont Xiamen establishes a new luxury hospitality benchmark in one of Southeast China’s fastest-growing coastal cities. Located amidst the dramatic peaks of the Wuyi Mountains, the hotel offers 420 refined guestrooms and suites, stunning skyline views, and a guest experience deeply rooted in the traditions of Minnan culture.
Designed by globally acclaimed architecture firm FOSTER + PARTNERS, with interiors by Cheng & Chung Design (CCD) and landscaping by SWA Group, the hotel seamlessly integrates urban sophistication and natural elements. Fairmont Xiamen’s aesthetic draws from Old Hollywood Art Deco, the coastal palette, and Nanyang architecture, creating a space that is simultaneously glamorous and tranquil.
The property features five signature dining venues, including:
-
TIANXIA 1984, a bold reimagining of Fujian cuisine set in a space inspired by ancient Chinese ceramics.
-
Del Mar, an Italian concept with a Minnan red-brick twist.
-
Victoria Destination Restaurant, offering panoramic sea-to-sky views and global fusion dishes.
-
AIR LOFT Bar, an aviation-inspired rooftop lounge celebrating both Xiamen Airlines and coastal nature.
-
PLAZA Lobby Lounge, a vibrant social gathering space for afternoon teas and casual luxury.
Guests staying in the Fairmont Gold rooms enjoy access to an exclusive Fairmont Gold Lounge, which offers private check-in and elevated services within a serene setting inspired by the white heron, a regional symbol of peace and elegance.
Business and social events are supported by over 3,100 square meters of versatile space, including two grand ballrooms, six naturally lit meeting rooms, a sky lawn, and the city’s only luxury auditorium—making the hotel uniquely suited for hosting premieres, conferences, and weddings of up to 1,000 guests.
Wellness is elevated with the Fairmont Spa and Fairmont Fit center, located in a tranquil sunken courtyard. Spa design echoes the peaceful style of Gulangyu Island villas, while the pool and fitness area feature floor-to-ceiling glass for natural light and rejuvenating views.
Fairmont Xiamen reflects the brand’s strong commitment to sustainability through partnerships such as BeWTR for plastic-free water solutions, the use of recyclable materials, and eco-conscious culinary practices. Guests are also offered electric luxury vehicle transfers, supporting responsible travel in the region.
This opening brings Fairmont’s Greater China portfolio to seven properties, with future additions planned for Dalian, Tokyo, Udaipur, Bangkok, and more. Fairmont Xiamen further cements the brand’s role in delivering culturally immersive, architecturally significant, and environmentally responsible experiences in key global destinations.
