Grand Mercure, part of Accor’s premium hotel portfolio, has made its mark in Batam with the grand opening of Grand Mercure Batam Centre, ushering in a new era of culturally inspired, upscale hospitality in this growing Indonesian city. Located strategically just five minutes from Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal, the hotel serves as a gateway between Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, and offers seamless access for both leisure and business travelers.

With 230 rooms and suites, the hotel draws inspiration from coastal landscapes, echoing the organic shapes and soothing rhythms of the sea. Emphasizing local identity, design details like the Batik Gonggong motif, featured in staff uniforms, pay homage to the Riau Islands' heritage, while ambient island music fosters a strong sense of place. This is a hallmark of the Grand Mercure brand, known for fusing modern flair with regional traditions.

Guests can indulge in authentic Batam culinary specialties at Ambrosia, the all-day dining venue offering dishes such as Mie Tarempa and Luti Gendang, or unwind at Celeste Café and Lounge, which provides a relaxed, poolside setting for drinks and light meals. Additional amenities include a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre, and kids’ club, enhancing the appeal for families and long-stay travelers.

Grand Mercure Batam Centre also caters to the meetings and events market with its Rarantira Grand Ballroom, one of the largest in the city. The pillarless venue with seven-metre ceilings can accommodate up to 1,200 guests, making it ideal for weddings, corporate functions, and conferences. Multiple meeting rooms equipped with natural light and advanced technology round out the event offering.

According to Garth Simmons, COO for Accor Asia’s Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, the hotel strengthens Accor’s presence in a key regional gateway and reflects the brand’s commitment to hospitality that is both immersive and refined. Samian Rais, General Manager of Grand Mercure Batam Centre, emphasized the hotel’s mission to help guests connect with the traditions and stories of Batam through genuine Indonesian service.

An introductory offer from IDR 1,573,000 net per night is available until 30 July 2025, inclusive of daily breakfast for two. Guests can access additional perks by enrolling in ALL – Accor Live Limitless, the brand’s lifestyle loyalty programme.
