Hilton signs exclusive agreement with YOTEL to grow in lifestyle hospitality
Hilton has announced an exclusive agreement with YOTEL, expanding its reach in the global lifestyle hotel segment through a new partnership with the design-led brand. The move brings YOTEL into Hilton’s wider ecosystem while allowing it to preserve its own identity and operating model. It also marks an important step in the rollout of Select by Hilton, a newly established platform for independent hotel brands. For Hilton, the agreement strengthens its asset-light growth strategy and broadens its appeal in key urban hotel markets.
Under the agreement, YOTEL will become the first independent brand to join Select by Hilton, a new brand platform designed to connect established hotel operators to Hilton’s distribution, technology, and loyalty systems while allowing them to retain their own branding and management. According to the announcement, YOTEL will continue to independently manage and license its brand across its existing portfolio of 23 hotels in 10 countries, with ambitions to more than triple that number in the coming years. The arrangement gives Hilton a stronger presence in a fast-evolving corner of the market shaped by compact design, technology-driven guest experiences, and demand for efficient, stylish accommodation in major cities.
Founded in London in 2007, YOTEL has built its reputation around highly efficient hotels in prominent urban destinations such as New York, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Glasgow, and Singapore. The brand is particularly known for smart room layouts and technology-led features including the YOTEL SmartBed™, which converts from a flatbed to a sofa, as well as automated luggage storage and other design solutions intended to maximise convenience and functionality. That operating model gives Hilton access to a distinctive concept within the wider lifestyle hospitality market, without requiring a conventional brand integration.
The deal also creates a significant new opportunity for Hilton Honors. Once YOTEL is integrated into Hilton’s network, guests staying at participating properties will be able to access the benefits of the loyalty programme. Hilton said the first YOTEL hotels are expected to become bookable through Hilton channels later in 2026, opening the brand to Hilton’s nearly 250 million Hilton Honors members. The announcement identifies Christian Charnaux and Phil Andreopoulos as key executives behind the agreement, underlining the strategic value of the partnership for both companies. Altogether, the deal positions Hilton to deepen its footprint in lifestyle hotels while giving YOTEL broader commercial reach without changing the guest experience that defines the brand.
