The latest first-quarter performance reinforces IHCL’s position as India’s largest hospitality company. During the quarter, the company signed 20 hotels, with 17 of those signings concentrated across Gateway, Ginger and Tree of Life. This focus on growth brands reflects the group’s strategy of expanding into a broad mix of travel destinations, from leisure markets and spiritual centres to business locations and emerging regional cities.

The signings included new destinations and emerging markets such as Bharatpur, Trichy, Sindhudurg, Jawai and Wayanad. At the same time, IHCL deepened its presence in established markets including Mumbai, Goa, Agra and Kolkata. This dual approach allows the company to grow both where demand is developing and where brand recognition, tourism and business travel are already strong.

The quarter also brought an important milestone for Taj. With three signings, the brand reached a portfolio of 150 hotels. These new signings expand Taj’s leisure footprint to Dharamshala, Barapani in Meghalaya, and Kusur Valley in Maharashtra. The milestone confirms the continuing strength of Taj within IHCL’s portfolio and its role as the group’s flagship luxury brand.

Hotel openings were another major part of the quarter. IHCL opened 11 hotels, taking its operating portfolio to more than 380 hotels across brands and markets. Internationally, the company strengthened its presence with the opening of Taj Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt and Taj Bush Lodge in Greater Kruger, South Africa. These openings show how IHCL is continuing to build its international footprint while maintaining strong momentum in India.

The SeleQtions portfolio expanded with the addition of Ayodhayam in Ayodhya and Bandra House in Mumbai. Gateway added a new hotel in Kandla, while Ginger continued its expansion with openings in Hyderabad, Agra, Kota, Gadchiroli in Maharashtra and Siwan in Bihar. These additions reflect the breadth of IHCL’s operating model, covering luxury, upscale, full-service, boutique and lean luxe hospitality formats.

As of 30 June 2026, IHCL’s portfolio included 382 operating hotels and 263 pipeline hotels, for a total of 645 properties. Taj accounted for 93 operating hotels and 57 pipeline hotels, while Ginger represented the largest brand by total portfolio, with 166 operating hotels and 96 hotels in the pipeline. Other brand totals included SeleQtions with 56 hotels, Gateway with 55, Vivanta with 54, Tree of Life with 41, Brij with 22, Claridges Collection with four and Atmantan with one.

The latest figures also support IHCL’s strategic roadmap, Accelerate 2030. The company is well placed to achieve its stated goal of a 700-hotel portfolio under this plan. The first-quarter performance shows that growth is not limited to one segment, but is being driven by multiple brands across different price points, destinations and guest needs.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President - Real Estate & Development at IHCL, is connected with the company’s signing momentum and the role of growth brands in expanding into new and established markets. Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President - Hotel Openings & New Businesses at IHCL, is associated with the group’s opening momentum and the expansion of the operating portfolio across domestic and international locations.

IHCL brings together a portfolio of brands including Taj, Claridges Collection, Brij, Atmantan, SeleQtions, Gateway, Vivanta, Tree of Life and Ginger. Incorporated by Jamsetji Tata, founder of the Tata Group, the company opened its first hotel, The Taj Mahal Palace, in Bombay in 1903. With a portfolio now spanning four continents, 15 countries and more than 300 locations, Indian Hotels Company Limited continues to build scale while strengthening its position across the global and Indian hospitality markets.
