IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Emproy Hospitality LLP to develop Holiday Inn Resort Lonavala, a 100-key property set to open in 2027. Positioned along the busy Mumbai-Pune corridor, the resort is designed to capture rising demand for leisure escapes, social gatherings, and corporate retreats in one of West India’s most popular hill destinations. Nestled amid the year-round greenery of Lonavala, the property aims to deliver a scenic getaway anchored in the familiar comfort of the Holiday Inn brand. The signing also strengthens IHG’s presence in India’s essentials segment as it continues expanding across fast-growing leisure markets.

The new Holiday Inn Resort Lonavala will be located on the NH-48 Expressway, providing strong visibility and convenient access for travellers arriving from Mumbai, Pune and beyond. Set against the lush landscape that has made Lonavala a staple weekend escape, the resort is intended to serve as a premier stop along the route, appealing to families, couples, groups and corporate guests looking for a nature-focused break within easy driving distance of major cities. By bringing an internationally recognised midscale resort brand to the destination, IHG Hotels & Resorts is positioning the property to tap into a steady flow of short-stay and extended-stay demand.

In line with the ethos of Holiday Inn, known for consistent comfort and guest-focused innovation, the resort will feature 100 well-appointed rooms designed for both relaxation and productivity. Plans include three distinct dining options to cater to different occasions and dayparts, reinforcing the hotel’s role as a social hub for residents and visitors. Recreational facilities will encompass a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, giving guests a full resort experience that combines downtime with wellness and active pursuits. Together, these elements aim to set a new benchmark for midscale resort hospitality in Lonavala.

For IHG Hotels & Resorts, the agreement reflects a deliberate strategy to grow in key domestic leisure destinations where branded inventory remains relatively limited compared to demand. The company views Lonavala as one of West India’s most sought-after leisure hubs, benefitting from its cool climate, scenic valleys and accessibility from major urban centres. By adding Holiday Inn Resort Lonavala to its pipeline, IHG is reinforcing its commitment to offer globally recognised brands and memorable experiences along some of India’s busiest travel corridors.

From the ownership perspective, Emproy Hospitality LLP is looking to leverage IHG’s global systems, distribution and operational standards to position the resort as a preferred choice for guests seeking a nature-led escape with reliable service. The partnership is expected to bring international best practices together with local market knowledge, supporting the ambition to create a property that resonates with both domestic travellers and international visitors. With the opening targeted for 2027, Holiday Inn Resort Lonavala is poised to become an important new player in the region’s hospitality landscape, serving leisure, social and corporate demand amid the hills.
