IHG Signs Holiday Inn Sriperumbudur to Expand in Tamil Nadu
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement for Holiday Inn Sriperumbudur, adding a new project in one of South India’s fast-growing commercial and industrial locations. Scheduled to open in Q1 2029, the 200-key hotel is set to strengthen the group’s footprint in Tamil Nadu and support its wider expansion across high-growth markets in India. The project also deepens IHG’s partnership with Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts, underlining continued confidence in the region’s rising demand for branded hospitality.
Located in Sriperumbudur, the upcoming hotel is being positioned to serve a broad mix of demand, including corporate, spiritual and transit travel. According to the release, the property will offer standard rooms and suites, three dining venues, a ballroom, a swimming pool and a fitness centre, creating a full-service offer for both business and leisure guests. The choice of location reflects the area’s dual appeal as an industrial base and a destination connected to historic and religious sites, giving Holiday Inn Sriperumbudur a wide potential catchment.
For IHG Hotels & Resorts, the signing fits its strategy of expanding in commercially important destinations with strong long-term growth potential. The company highlighted Sriperumbudur’s strategic advantages, including proximity to Chennai port, its position along the Chennai Bangalore highway and continued infrastructure development. The area’s appeal has also been reinforced by the presence of Software Technology Parks, major automotive and electronics manufacturers and the Aerospace Park at Vallam Vadagal, while growth in logistics and warehousing is adding further momentum to demand for branded hotels.
The agreement also carries weight from a partnership perspective. The new signing marks the third hotel project between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts, with senior executives Sudeep Jain, Sudeesh Srinivas and Keerthan Sudeesh presenting the development as a strategic addition to the local market and a strong fit for the Holiday Inn brand. Their comments in the release point to a shared expectation that the hotel will become a preferred option for travellers visiting the area, supported by IHG’s brand recognition and operational scale.
In a broader market context, the deal adds to IHG’s already expanding presence in India. The company said it currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in the country and has a pipeline of 89 more properties due to open over the next three to five years. Within that trajectory, Holiday Inn Sriperumbudur stands out as a targeted move into a location where industrial expansion, infrastructure investment and diversified travel demand are creating favourable conditions for new branded hotel development.
