IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd. for voco Phuket Patong, a new-build hotel scheduled to open in 2028. The 307-room property will be part of Abov Patong, a mixed-use development on the hillside of Patong in Phuket. The signing continues the rapid expansion of the voco hotels brand in Thailand following its debut in Bangkok last year. It also strengthens IHG’s presence in Phuket, where the group already operates across multiple brands.

voco Phuket Patong will be located within Abov Patong, a landmark mixed-use destination comprising hotels, branded residences and a wide range of facilities. The development will include a clubhouse, a theatre, multi-zone swimming pools and a Kids Club, creating an upmarket lifestyle environment for both residents and travellers. The hotel’s integration into this broader project gives it a stronger leisure and lifestyle positioning than a standalone property.

The new hotel will offer 307 rooms and will be positioned as a premium stay experience with the approachable character associated with voco hotels. The brand is described by IHG Hotels & Resorts as its fastest-growing premium brand, combining individual charm with the reliability of a global hotel platform. voco Phuket Patong will join a global portfolio of 137 open and operating voco hotels, with another 113 properties in the development pipeline.

The location is one of the property’s key strengths. voco Phuket Patong will offer panoramic ocean views and a mountainous backdrop, while being situated just 150 metres from Patong Beach. Guests will also have easy access to entertainment areas, shopping malls and dining experiences, as well as road connections to other Phuket destinations such as Karon, Kata and Kamala Beach.

The hotel facilities will include a restaurant, two bars, a spa, a swimming pool and a fitness centre. These features are designed to support both short leisure stays and longer resort-style visits, while aligning with Patong’s role as one of Phuket’s most popular travel areas. The combination of beach proximity, hillside views and mixed-use development facilities gives the property a broad appeal for local and international travellers.

The signing also adds momentum to voco hotels in Thailand. Following the brand’s debut in Bangkok, IHG now has one voco property open in the country and four more in the pipeline. voco Phuket Patong is part of that expansion and will add another premium option to the brand’s growing national footprint.

For IHG Hotels & Resorts, the project reinforces its scale in Thailand, where the company now has more than 80 open and signed hotels nationwide. In Phuket, the new signing will complement an existing portfolio of seven hotels across five brands - InterContinental, Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. With voco Phuket Patong, IHG is adding another premium brand to one of Thailand’s strongest leisure hotel markets.

The agreement also marks the first hotel project between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd. Pathana Jitsaereetham, director, development, Thailand at IHG, is named in the announcement in relation to the group’s expansion in Phuket. Wuthikrai Kulsirisawad, chief executive officer of Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd., is also named in connection with the development of Abov Patong and the partnership with IHG.
