Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove opens on California’s Monterey Peninsula
Kimpton has officially opened Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove, a new boutique hotel designed to channel the area’s coastal energy and Spanish Revival character on California’s Monterey Peninsula. Located in Pacific Grove, the property is positioned as a design-forward escape that blends relaxed luxury with Kimpton’s people-first hospitality. The opening expands IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury and lifestyle footprint in a destination known for walkability, heritage architecture, and iconic shoreline scenery.
Set just half a mile from the Pacific Ocean, Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove is surrounded by historic homes and local landmarks including Monarch Grove Sanctuary and Point Pinos Lighthouse. The hotel’s Spanish Revival-inspired exterior leans into terracotta rooflines, arched openings, and hand-plastered walls, while interiors were created by San Francisco-based design studio Narrative. Across four stories, the property offers 99 rooms and suites, with many featuring private balconies and select suites adding fireplaces to reinforce the intimate, residential feel.
The guest experience is built around spaces that encourage lingering, from a firelit courtyard designed for evening gatherings to a fitness studio and flexible meetings and events areas suited to celebrations and small group sessions. In-room touches include yoga mats and wellness kits, and the hotel is pet-friendly. Guests also have access to complimentary bikes for exploring the coastline, while daily wellness programming is delivered in partnership with Monterey Bay Moves, spanning activities such as yoga, sound baths, and fitness sessions.
Kimpton’s brand rituals are also woven into the daily rhythm of the stay. Mornings start with Kimpton Kickstart, the brand’s coffee ritual, and evenings shift into Kimpton Social, an informal hosted hour intended to bring guests together over drinks and light bites. For IHG loyalists, the property sits within the broader IHG One Rewards ecosystem, reinforcing the brand’s strategy of pairing distinctive lifestyle hotels with a scaled loyalty platform.
Food and beverage is anchored by The Caledonian, opening alongside the hotel as a locally inspired restaurant and bar intended to serve both visitors and the community. Led by California-native Chef Aaron Rayor, the concept focuses on a modern American menu shaped by seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, with dishes highlighted in the opening announcement including roasted chicken with cranberry beans and salsa verde, whole branzino with saffron velouté, and Scottish salmon. The beverage lineup emphasizes inventive cocktails, a considered zero-proof selection, and a curated wine list featuring California vineyards, supported by a warm, Spanish Revival-leaning design that includes a fireplace lounge, semi-open kitchen, and outdoor patios. Service details shared at launch include breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., dinner from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and daily happy hours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with bar hours extending later on Fridays and Saturdays.
The opening was positioned by Vicki Poulos as a strong fit for the brand’s approach to thoughtful design and genuine local connection, while Julia Chaland noted the focus on bringing Pacific Grove’s spirit into a contemporary hospitality setting. Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove also arrives as part of a wider run of Kimpton growth, alongside other recent openings cited by the company including Kimpton Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong, Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, and Kimpton KAFD Riyadh.
