Mama Shelter Arrives in Switzerland with July Opening in Zurich
Mama Shelter is set to open its first Swiss property on July 31, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the brand as it continues its bold expansion across the EMEA region. Located in Zurich’s vibrant Oerlikon district, Mama Shelter Zurich will offer 178 rooms and bring the brand’s trademark mix of design, conviviality, and community-driven spirit to one of Switzerland’s most dynamic urban hubs.
The upcoming opening marks Mama Shelter’s 19th property globally and is poised to become a hub for both locals and international travellers, offering not only accommodation but also a planted rooftop, restaurant, bar, and flexible workspaces. The property’s design draws deeply from Swiss cultural and natural heritage, with interiors that reflect the Alpine landscapes, modernist traditions, and local craftsmanship. According to Benjamin El Doghaïli, Head of the Mama Shelter Design Studio, the decor is a celebration of Switzerland’s unique identity.
Mama Shelter Zurich will cater to business and creative communities with a range of versatile meeting and event spaces, from intimate studios to expansive rooms measuring up to 260 square meters. These areas are designed to support everything from corporate gatherings to cultural happenings.
At the heart of the experience will be Mama’s Restaurant, offering a lively atmosphere with an open kitchen, wood-fired pizzas, and the brand’s signature Sunday brunch. The culinary program is expected to be a draw for locals as well as guests, in line with Mama Shelter’s focus on creating social, inclusive environments. Meanwhile, Mama’s Garden, the rooftop area, will offer panoramic views of Zurich and serve as a lively outdoor venue from morning to night.
The Zurich opening follows Mama Shelter Dubai and precedes new launches in Toulon and a fourth Paris-area property near Disneyland Paris, underscoring the brand’s ongoing strategy to grow its European footprint with playful, locally infused properties.
