Mandarin Oriental debuts in Mallorca with Punta Negra resort
Mandarin Oriental is set to make its debut in Mallorca with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca on 1 June 2026. Located in Calvià near Puerto Portals, the new resort marks the group’s first property in the Balearic Islands and its third hotel in Spain. Surrounded by Aleppo pines, dramatic coastline and uninterrupted Mediterranean views, the hotel is positioned as an intimate luxury resort shaped by nature, privacy and understated elegance. With 131 rooms and suites, the opening strengthens Mandarin Oriental’s presence in one of the Mediterranean’s most desirable leisure destinations.
The new Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca has been designed to capture both the natural beauty and cultural identity of the island. Set across five buildings inspired by Mallorca’s history, pine forests and relationship with the sea, the resort blends contemporary design with local craftsmanship and a strong sense of place. Interiors use soft neutral tones, natural materials and carefully considered light to create a calm, sensory atmosphere, while hand-placed stones throughout the property reflect artisanal traditions. The accommodation offer includes 26 suites, nine casitas, 13 rooms and suites with plunge pools, and five rooftop suites with private pools, giving the resort broad appeal for both couples and families seeking a more secluded Mediterranean retreat.
Food and beverage are central to the positioning of the resort, with six dining venues designed to establish the hotel as a new Mallorca dining destination. These include Matsuhisa from Nobu Matsuhisa, focused on sophisticated Nikkei-style dining, and Leña by Dani García, a contemporary steakhouse built around fire, smoke and local culinary traditions. The culinary line-up also includes Jacinta, which brings Mexican flavours into a contemporary setting, Leppoc, an all-day venue centered on Mediterranean and Levantine cuisine, Sobretaula, which offers alfresco tapas on a serene terrace, and Thalos, an open-air poolside bar with Greek-inspired comfort dishes. Together, the outlets position the property as much more than a hotel stay, adding strong destination appeal through gastronomy, social spaces and chef-led concepts.
Wellness is another major pillar of the resort. The spa features nine treatment cabins, including couples’ suites, as well as a relaxation room and signature treatments such as the Curandero Experience and the Tea Ceremony, which combine local influences with Oriental wellbeing philosophies. Guests will also have access to two outdoor pools for adults, an outdoor children’s pool, an indoor pool and a fully equipped fitness centre. Additional heat and water experiences, including a hydro-massage pool, steam rooms, cold plunges and aromatherapy showers, reinforce the property’s appeal as a high-end wellness resort. Altogether, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca enters the market as a refined new luxury hospitality address, combining Mallorcan culture, sea-facing design, destination dining and holistic wellbeing in one of the island’s most striking coastal settings.
