Mercure Expands UAE Portfolio with New Downtown Abu Dhabi Hotel
Accor’s Mercure brand has opened its latest property in the United Arab Emirates with the debut of Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown, strengthening the group’s footprint in the capital city.
Located on Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Otaiba Street, the 156-key hotel features a mix of guestrooms, suites, and serviced apartments, including accessible and connecting units. Designed with Emirati culture and the UAE’s natural landscapes in mind, interiors showcase desert tones, textured finishes, and local artworks. Facilities include a spa, fitness centre, outdoor pool, four meeting rooms, and a ballroom, catering to both leisure and business travellers.
The hotel’s three dining venues highlight diverse experiences: Mokaia, a café-lounge offering pastries and specialty coffee; Livi, a Mediterranean restaurant with an open kitchen and private dining space; and Le Cellier, a rooftop wine bar on the 18th floor featuring panoramic views of Abu Dhabi’s skyline. Guests are also within easy reach of the city’s key attractions, including Qasr Al Hosn, the Formula 1 Grand Prix, and the NBA Abu Dhabi Games, while Zayed International Airport is a 40-minute drive away.
According to Paul Stevens, COO, Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, Middle East, Africa & Türkiye at Accor, the opening reflects Mercure’s mission of connecting guests with destinations through locally rooted experiences. Mourad Brahmi, Cluster General Manager of Mercure Hotel Abu Dhabi Downtown and Novotel & Adagio Abu Dhabi Al Bustan, added that the hotel embodies Emirati flavours, design, and hospitality across every touchpoint.
