Aspen Hospitality, a division of Aspen One, has announced the launch of Nell Hotels, a new luxury hotel brand built on the legacy of The Little Nell in Aspen. The launch is marked by the planned arrival of The Nell New York, scheduled to open in fall 2027 as the first and only hotel within Rockefeller Center. The announcement also includes the forthcoming transformation of The Little Nell, which will temporarily close in April 2027 for a comprehensive renovation before reopening for the 2027-2028 ski season. Together, these moves position Nell Hotels as a carefully grown luxury collection shaped by personal service, distinctive access and destination character.

Nell Hotels launches with three distinct expressions. The Little Nell remains the founding property and the brand’s original ski-in/ski-out hotel in Aspen. The Residences at The Little Nell add a private residential component in the same mountain destination. The Nell New York will extend the brand to Midtown Manhattan, bringing an independently spirited hotel experience to one of the city’s most recognisable addresses.

The brand is being introduced with a measured growth strategy rather than a broad-scale rollout. Aspen Hospitality is positioning Nell Hotels around select destinations where the brand’s style of hospitality can resonate naturally. This approach reflects the legacy of The Little Nell, a property known for personal recognition, destination access and a strong emotional connection with returning guests.

The Nell New York represents a more than $350 million investment and will bring the brand to Rockefeller Center. The 134-room hotel will be situated above the landmark complex and is planned as the only Relais & Châteaux property in New York City. Its location places guests within a destination known for architecture, culture, dining, shopping and public life, giving the hotel an immediate connection to the energy of Manhattan.

The hotel’s amenities will include an all-day dining venue, a lobby bar, a wine lounge and experience, and a spa. A signature fine dining restaurant will also open above the hotel on the 17th floor, offering views of Rockefeller Center and the surrounding city. This combination of dining, wellness and social spaces gives The Nell New York a full luxury hospitality profile within one of the city’s most visited urban landmarks.

Design will be shaped by the Art Deco character and architectural ambition of Rockefeller Center. The Nell New York will also include a significant art collection featuring emerging and internationally recognised artists from New York and around the world. This focus on design and art supports the hotel’s positioning as a luxury address rooted in culture, creativity and place.

A defining element of the guest experience will be access. Just as The Little Nell is associated with privileged access to Aspen and its mountains, The Nell New York is being positioned around access to the studios, galleries, private dining rooms, cultural institutions and discreet local experiences that shape New York City. This gives the property an insider quality while remaining open to hotel guests rather than operating as a membership club.

The launch of Nell Hotels also marks a new chapter for The Little Nell. The Aspen property will temporarily close in April 2027 for a comprehensive renovation, with reopening planned in time for the 2027-2028 winter season. The project will enhance guestrooms, public spaces and dining outlets while preserving the qualities that have made the hotel central to Aspen’s luxury hospitality market.

During the renovation period, The Little Nell’s weddings programme will continue to operate, with the Wedding Deck remaining available for celebrations. The Residences at The Little Nell will also remain open for bookings. These private residences offer gourmet kitchens, living areas with stacked stone fireplaces, private balconies with panoramic mountain views, marble and onyx bathrooms, dedicated ski concierge service, a rooftop pool with 360-degree views, and 24-hour concierge service.

Before the transformation begins, The Little Nell will remain fully operational. Its programming will continue to highlight Aspen’s outdoor lifestyle, culinary calendar and cultural moments. The hotel’s spa residency with celebrity facialist Georgia Louise has also been extended through the next winter season, adding another experiential element to the property before its renovation.

With The Little Nell, The Residences at The Little Nell and The Nell New York, Nell Hotels is building a brand around familiarity, recognition and carefully chosen destinations. The launch gives Aspen Hospitality a platform for future growth while keeping the brand anchored in the qualities that shaped its original mountain property. As the collection expands from Aspen to New York, Nell Hotels is positioning itself at the intersection of luxury service, cultural access and destination-led hospitality.
