Nobu plans first countryside retreat in Rutland, England
Nobu Hospitality has announced plans for Nobu Woolfox, a new hotel, restaurant and branded residences development set across 185 acres in Rutland, England. Created in partnership with Woolfox, the project will mark the first countryside retreat concept in the Nobu portfolio. Located near the Georgian town of Stamford, the destination will combine luxury hospitality, world-class dining, wellness, residences and access to the English countryside. The project signals a new expression of the Nobu lifestyle, shaped by nature, space and a slower pace of living.
The planned Nobu Woolfox development represents a significant evolution for Nobu Hospitality, which is best known for its global hotel, restaurant and residential projects in major cities and resort destinations. This new project moves the brand into a refined rural setting, offering a countryside escape rather than an urban lifestyle address. Its location in the heart of Rutland gives the development a distinctive English identity rooted in landscape, tranquillity and outdoor living.
The project will bring together lake-view rooms and suites, a signature Nobu restaurant and bar, curated food and beverage spaces, a spa and a collection of branded residences. These elements are designed to create a complete luxury lifestyle destination where guests, members and residents can stay, dine, relax and spend meaningful time in nature. The plans also include extensive wellness and leisure amenities, including a dedicated spa, swimming pool, gym and landscaped grounds.
Nobu Woolfox will also be positioned as a destination and members club. This gives the project a more layered hospitality model, combining hotel stays with private residential living and club-style experiences. The announcement names Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, and Chris Riddle, Co-Founder of Woolfox, as key figures associated with the project. Their comments position the development around tranquillity, reconnection and a more personal form of hospitality away from the pace of everyday life. The partnership reflects a shared ambition to bring the familiar Nobu experience into a peaceful rural setting.
Woolfox is described as a members club and residences concept centred on wellness and restorative escape from city life.
