Novotel Expands in Romania with New Hotel Opening in Timișoara by 2027
Accor is strengthening its presence in Romania with the signing of a franchise agreement with Amazonia Aquapark SRL to launch Novotel Timișoara. Planned to open by the end of 2027, this property will become the first Novotel outside of Bucharest and a flagship hotel for the brand in Eastern Europe. Located adjacent to the largest aquapark in the region, the hotel will combine the brand's hallmark comfort and flexibility with the dynamic spirit of one of Romania’s fastest-growing cities.
Novotel, part of Accor’s global portfolio since 1967, has built a reputation for providing accessible quality accommodation for both business and leisure travelers. Currently, with nearly 600 hotels worldwide, Novotel is a brand known for its balance of productivity-enhancing workspaces and communal leisure areas.
The new Novotel Timișoara will feature 152 rooms, including 15 junior suites, a duplex presidential suite, and 20 family rooms tailored for children. Guests will enjoy two restaurants with outdoor terraces, a central bar, a fitness center, and over 1,000 square meters of flexible conference and event space. Strategically located just minutes from downtown Timișoara and key transport hubs, the hotel will offer seamless access to the city’s cultural and business attractions.
Frank Reul, VP – Development Accor Premium, Midscale & Economy Eastern Europe, Balkans, Italy & Greece, emphasized the importance of Romania as a key growth market for Accor, highlighting the significance of expanding Novotel’s presence beyond Bucharest.
Sustainability is a core focus of the project, with plans to achieve BREEAM certification through eco-conscious infrastructure, modular construction, and responsible design practices. The hotel will be directly connected to Amazonia Aquapark, offering guests a blend of entertainment, wellness, and hospitality.
