Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa begins grand reimagination
Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa has announced an extensive property-wide renovation of the historic New Hampshire resort. Scheduled for completion this summer, the transformation will refresh every part of the guest experience, including all 200 rooms in the hotel’s historic wing. Located in the White Mountains, the property is one of the last remaining Grand Hotels in the state and home to New Hampshire’s largest ski area. The project is designed to bring modern comfort, elevated design and a renewed sense of place to one of America’s most storied mountain resorts.
Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa was built during the golden age of luxury travel and remains one of New Hampshire’s landmark hospitality properties. The renovation is intended to honour the resort’s architectural heritage while preparing it for a new generation of travellers. Its completion ahead of America’s 250th anniversary gives the project additional symbolic weight, connecting the property’s history with a wider national moment.
The transformation is centred on the idea of a Generational Heirloom, allowing the historic building itself to guide the design. Rather than replacing the character of the hotel, the renovation works within its original shell and uses carefully selected materials, fabrics, lighting and furnishings to create a refreshed but familiar atmosphere. This approach supports the resort’s identity as a place connected with family traditions, celebrations and long-standing memories.
Guests arriving through the resort’s iconic front doors will find enhanced reception areas, including the legendary Great Hall. The space is being elevated with refined furnishings and curated artwork, creating a more polished arrival while preserving the grandeur that has defined the hotel since 1902. The result is intended to feel both historic and current, balancing nostalgia with contemporary hospitality expectations.
The refurbished guestrooms in the Historic Wing will combine Gilded Age elegance with modern comfort. A calming palette of blues and greens draws inspiration from the surrounding mountain landscape, while antique-inspired furnishings, woven accents and botanical details bring the outdoors into the rooms. These updates are designed to create a serene retreat that feels rooted in the White Mountains while meeting the needs of today’s travellers.
Meetings and events are also being reimagined as part of the property-wide project. Venues for executive sessions, large-scale meetings, weddings, anniversaries and grand celebrations will feature elevated finishes, enhanced lighting and modern functionality. Spaces such as the Grand Ballroom, Presidential Conference Center and flexible breakout rooms will combine historic architecture with adaptable layouts.
The resort’s dining portfolio is also undergoing a significant refresh. Stickney’s Restaurant will offer a classic steakhouse experience in a warm and polished setting, while Rosebrook Bar will become a vibrant social hub with panoramic mountain views, handcrafted cocktails and light fare. A new café, Labrador Tea & Coffee, will provide grab-and-go options in a bright and welcoming space for guests preparing for the slopes, outdoor activities or exploration of the resort grounds.
Wellness and active living are also part of the transformation. The reimagined Spa at Omni Mount Washington will feature calming, mountain-inspired wood tones and soft lighting, creating a restorative setting after a day outdoors. The resort will also introduce an expanded fitness center with new equipment, adding another layer to the property’s year-round leisure and wellness offer.
The wider resort already includes a broad range of seasonal activities and facilities. Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa sits at the base of Mount Washington, surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest, and is home to Bretton Woods, New Hampshire’s largest ski area. The property also includes the restored 18-hole Mount Washington Golf Course, a 25,000-square-foot spa, a 20,000-square-foot conference center, an outdoor pool complex, the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour, Alpine and Nordic skiing, 27 holes of championship golf and year-round cultural and traditional programming.
Michael Medeiros, managing director of Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa, and Tonya Grine, senior director of interior design at Omni Hotels & Resorts, are named in the announcement in connection with the renovation. Their comments frame the project as a careful renewal of a historic hotel that has hosted presidents, dignitaries and celebrities, while continuing to serve families, meeting groups and leisure guests.
