Radisson Hotel Group Accelerates Expansion in Romania with Four New Properties
Radisson Hotel Group has announced a strategic expansion in Romania, unveiling four new properties that highlight the country’s rising importance as a hospitality destination. From historic urban landmarks to luxury mountain and seaside resorts, these additions underscore Radisson’s commitment to offering diverse, high-quality travel experiences in both established and emerging Romanian locations.
Among the most notable developments is the Radisson RED Bucharest Old Town, which will mark the debut of the Radisson RED brand in the country when it opens in 2027. Set within a renovated 1940s office building that formerly housed the Institute of Hydroelectric Studies, this property will blend contemporary design with heritage architecture, offering 104 rooms, a restaurant, a co-working lounge, and flexible meeting spaces. The hotel’s central location in Bucharest's historic district positions it perfectly for both leisure and business guests.
In Brașov, nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, the upcoming Radisson Blu Grand Mountain Resort will open in early 2027. The resort is designed as a year-round destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers, featuring luxury accommodations, a full-service spa, and outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. It represents a strategic move to capture the growing eco-tourism and wellness market in Romania’s Transylvanian region.
Heading to the coast, Radisson Blu Resort & Residences, Mamaia, opening in 2028, aims to redefine seaside luxury in Romania’s premier beach destination. The development will include 234 hotel rooms and 102 branded residences, with features such as panoramic sea views, an outdoor pool bar, a grand ballroom, and a 500 m² spa. Presidential Suites and duplex apartments will cater to high-end travelers looking for privacy and space, enhancing Mamaia’s international appeal.
Back in the capital, Radisson Lagoon Hotel Bucharest is set to become a landmark within the Central District Lagoon City. This urban resort will offer 323 rooms, a 1,100 m² sandy beach, and exclusive access to a 10,000 m² lagoon. Designed as a full-service urban escape, the hotel will include multiple swimming pools, a wellness center, upscale dining options, and retail areas. Its concept targets both locals and international visitors seeking a resort experience in the heart of the city.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, noted that Romania's recent entry into the Schengen Area is poised to significantly increase tourism, trade, and investment, further justifying Radisson’s focused expansion. With Bucharest, Brașov, Mamaia, and other key cities offering rich cultural, business, and natural attractions, Romania stands out as a promising market for sustained hotel development.
Radisson Hotel Group already enjoys a strong presence in Romania, with properties such as the award-winning Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest, and the Park Inn by Radisson Bucharest Hotel & Residence. In Transylvania, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cluj and the Radisson Blu Aurum Hotel, Brașov have also garnered praise for design excellence and sustainability.
With these new openings, Radisson Hotel Group is expanding its footprint while diversifying its portfolio across Romania’s vibrant regions, reflecting the brand’s broader European growth strategy.
