Rosewood Rome to Open in April 2026, Reviving a Landmark of Italian Elegance on Via Veneto
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced that Rosewood Rome will officially open in April 2026, marking the brand’s highly anticipated debut in the Italian capital. Set within the former headquarters of Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL), the hotel will comprise three historic buildings originally constructed in the early 1900s, overlooking the world-famous Via Veneto—a symbol of Italian sophistication and immortalized in Federico Fellini’s iconic film La Dolce Vita.
The redevelopment’s centerpiece is the reimagined former BNL headquarters, a grand edifice originally designed by Marcello Piacentini, one of Italy’s most celebrated architects and urban planners. Reflecting Rosewood’s A Sense of Place® philosophy, the design of Rosewood Rome will capture the city’s timeless spirit, blending classic architectural grandeur with modern luxury. Interiors will take inspiration from Rome’s relaxed elegance and the philosophy of dolce far niente - the art of “doing nothing”-resulting in a refined yet inviting atmosphere that pays homage to the Eternal City’s history and artistry.
The hotel will feature 157 accommodations, including 44 suites, each designed to embody contemporary comfort while honoring the charm of early 20th-century Rome. Guests will enjoy a curated collection of dining venues, including a modern Italian bistro, an elegant lobby bar and café, and a rooftop bar offering panoramic views across the Roman skyline.
Among the standout features of Rosewood Rome will be a subterranean wellness retreat located within the bank’s original vault, transformed into a modern Roman Bathhouse. The Sense®, A Rosewood Spa, positioned on the rooftop, will provide a tranquil sanctuary with four treatment rooms, a reflecting pool, and a state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking the city’s historic rooftops. For events and celebrations, the property will include three meeting rooms and a grand ballroom, combining Rosewood’s signature sophistication with Italian flair.
Rosewood Rome promises to become a new emblem of luxury hospitality in Italy, weaving together history, architecture, and culture in the heart of one of Europe’s most enchanting cities. With its seamless blend of heritage and innovation, the opening marks a defining moment in Rosewood’s continued expansion across Europe’s most prestigious destinations.
