Six Senses to Debut in Bangkok with Transformative Urban Retreat in Historic Silom
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will expand its Thai footprint with the future opening of Six Senses Bangkok, part of the ambitious Hatai mixed-use development by Narai Hospitality Group. Located on the original site of the iconic Narai Hotel, this new urban sanctuary is set to open in 2028, aligning with the property’s 60th anniversary. The new hotel will blend rich heritage with forward-thinking sustainable design, establishing a flagship for Six Senses in Thailand’s capital.
Marking a strategic return to its home country, Six Senses has signed a hotel management agreement with Narai Hospitality Group to introduce Six Senses Bangkok in the vibrant Silom district. This transformative project is part of Hatai, a pioneering development reimagining the site of the legendary Narai Hotel, which first opened in 1968 and served as a cultural landmark for over five decades.
The new hotel will occupy a central role in Hatai, designed by the acclaimed Heatherwick Studio, with inspiration drawn from traditional Thai lanterns. Set to become Bangkok’s “lantern quarter,” the project aims to breathe new life into Silom while preserving its historic legacy. Six Senses Bangkok will feature approximately 100 generously appointed rooms and suites designed as tranquil escapes from the city’s urban pace.
Central to the project is its commitment to environmental and wellness standards, targeting both LEED Gold and WELL Gold certifications. In line with Six Senses’ core principles, the development incorporates natural, local materials, including repurposed wood salvaged from the original Narai Hotel’s foundation, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for responsible luxury.
The hotel’s interiors will be brought to life through a collaboration between BAR Studio and renowned designer Joyce Wang, whose creative vision will crown the property with a 700-square-meter signature suite and restaurant. A rooftop pool, sky garden, and biophilic design elements will integrate indoor and outdoor spaces, while the Six Senses Spa Bangkok will offer wellness programs tailored to guests’ physical and emotional wellbeing, including sleep optimization, high-touch treatments, and nutritional dining.
Six Senses Bangkok will be one of two hotels anchoring Hatai, which will also include nearly 6,000 square meters of premium retail, dining, and public spaces. Strategically positioned near King Power Mahanakhon, the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, and with direct access to BTS and MRT lines, the hotel will cater to both leisure and business travelers seeking immersion in Bangkok’s heritage and contemporary pulse.
This announcement comes as Six Senses accelerates its urban expansion alongside recent and upcoming openings in Rome, Kyoto, London, Milan, and Tel Aviv. It also joins the brand’s Thai resorts Six Senses Samui and Six Senses Yao Noi, reaffirming its long-standing connection to the region.
The hotel is scheduled to open in 2028, shortly after the 60th anniversary of the Narai Hotel, continuing its legacy as a cultural icon redefined through modern hospitality values and regenerative design.
