The Brick, Tribute Portfolio has opened on Wyspa Spichrzów in Gdańsk, adding a new Marriott-affiliated boutique hotel to one of the city’s most active hospitality districts. The 60-room property is located in a historic-style tenement building at the corner of Stągiewna and Chmielna, opposite Cloud One. It is the second Tribute Portfolio hotel in Poland, following the opening of the Garamond, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Kraków in 2022. Both properties are managed by Grupa Hotelowa PI Apartamenty & Hotele.

The opening strengthens the growing hotel concentration on Wyspa Spichrzów, an area that has become one of Gdańsk’s most visible development zones. The island’s waterfront setting, proximity to the historic centre and connection to the Motława riverfront make it a natural location for new lifestyle and international branded hotels. The Brick enters this market with a concept rooted in local history, brick architecture and contemporary interior design.

The hotel’s façade has been designed to reflect the architectural character of Główne Miasto, using brick, proportions and details intended to harmonise with the panorama of the Motława waterfront. The building approach gives the property a sense of continuity with the surrounding urban fabric. Rather than presenting itself as a detached modern object, the hotel is designed to sit within the historic visual language of Gdańsk.

The architectural design was prepared by CKK Architekci from Gdynia under the supervision of Anna Król. This local design connection reinforces the hotel’s relationship with the city and its immediate environment. The building’s presence on the corner of two important streets gives it strong visibility within the redeveloped district.

Interior design was created by the Kraków-based studio Fobia Design led by Izabela Fluder-Wiąk, which previously worked on the Garamond, Tribute Portfolio project in Kraków. For The Brick, the design concept draws on the history of Wyspa Spichrzów, combining references to the island’s commercial and warehouse past with contemporary hospitality design.

The interior narrative is based on the building’s historic function as a granary used for storing hops and coal. This idea is reflected through half-timbered motifs, brick surfaces and industrial details. These elements give the hotel a stronger local personality and connect the guest experience to the memory of the island’s trading and storage heritage.

The 60 guestrooms are part of a broader boutique positioning under the Tribute Portfolio brand. As a Marriott soft brand, Tribute Portfolio is associated with independent hotels that retain a distinctive character while gaining access to an international distribution and loyalty platform. In Gdańsk, that positioning allows The Brick to combine global brand affiliation with a local, design-led identity.

The general contractor for the investment was PI Hotel Development, while PI Management serves as the operator. The hotel’s general manager is Grzegorz Żylak, who previously held the position of deputy general manager at Puro Old Town Gdańsk. His appointment brings local operational experience to the new property.

Grupa Hotelowa PI Apartamenty & Hotele is a certified Marriott network operator and already manages three Marriott-affiliated properties. These include AC by Marriott and Garamond, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Kraków, along with The Brick in Gdańsk. The group is also developing a Renaissance hotel with more than 250 rooms on Chmielna in Gdańsk.

The company’s wider portfolio includes The Crown, Handwritten Collection by Accor in Kraków, the independent 1891 Garni Hotel, Bridge Suites, and Baltic Waves Resort in Międzyzdroje. This gives the operator a growing position across branded, soft-branded and independent hospitality assets in Poland.

The opening comes during a busy period for the Gdańsk hotel market. Earlier this year, Prize by Radisson opened in the city with 126 rooms. By the end of the year, Experior Grand with 102 rooms and ibis Styles AmberExpo with 168 rooms are also expected to launch.

Further hotel development is planned on Wyspa Spichrzów, where Renaissance and Golden Tulip projects are also under way. Together, these projects are expected to add around 560 rooms to the area. This pipeline highlights the continuing transformation of the island into a major hospitality and mixed-use destination.

With 60 rooms, a Marriott soft-brand affiliation, a design concept inspired by the history of Wyspa Spichrzów, and management by Grupa Hotelowa PI Apartamenty & Hotele, The Brick, Tribute Portfolio adds a distinctive new hotel to Gdańsk’s riverside hospitality scene. The opening strengthens the role of Wyspa Spichrzów as one of Poland’s most dynamic urban hotel districts and gives Tribute Portfolio its second address in the country.
